Can you leave the airport?
Whether you can pass immigration depends on your nationality, not on how long your layover is. Incheon Airport's own Transit Tour rules give a good picture of who can go out:
- The Transit Tour is open to transfer passengers with a layover of 24 hours or less.
- It covers visa-free nationals, holders of a visa or permanent residency for the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or 32 European countries who are travelling there, and other foreign transit passengers.
- Visa-free nationals still need a K-ETA unless their country is on the temporary exemption list. The exemption has been extended to 31 December 2026; check whether it applies to you on the official K-ETA site.
- Bring your passport and both boarding passes (arriving and onward flight).
The airport does not publish a minimum layover for going out on your own. If you are unsure, ask at the Transit Tour desk: Terminal 1, 1st floor near Exits 1–2 (counters 19–20, +82-32-741-3139), or Terminal 2, 1st floor opposite Exit 4 (counters 5–6, +82-32-741-0060).
If you stay airside
Terminal 1 has two shower rooms in the 4th-floor transit lounges, near Gates 25 and 29, open 05:00–23:00. On the B1 level of the public area there are a spa (SPA at Home) and a capsule hotel (Darakhyu), both open around the clock. The airport's page does not list prices, so check before you go.
Routes on Yeongjong Island
Routes are sorted by length. Green-labelled routes were checked against public data; the others are approximate. Each name opens the route page with its map.
Seaside Park, along the island's south-east coast near Yeongjong Station, is 7.8 km long according to the Incheon Free Economic Zone and also has a rail bike and a bicycle rental. AREX all-stop trains connect both terminals with Unseo and Yeongjong stations on the island; check times on the AREX site before you leave.
The Cheongna Sky Bridge between Yeongjong Island and Cheongna opened on 5 January 2026. It is 4.68 km long and was built with space for walking and cycling, but no access hours are published, so confirm on site before planning a run across it.
Before you set off
- Do not walk out onto the tidal flats. The Korea Coast Guard reported a rise in tidal-flat accidents in 2026, and the tide comes in fast. Tide times are published by the Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Agency.
- Keep your passport and boarding pass on you, and leave time to go back through security and immigration.
- Check the route page for its start point and notes before you leave the terminal.
